These Israeli scientists working for M-Systems designed the more compact and rectangular chip, which facilitated the storage and transmission of data. Initially, only Singapore sold USB flash devices. But on April 5, 2000, the United States was granted a patent for the flash drive, and it became much more widely available throughout the country and the rest of the world.
