NEET UG 2022: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) exam was conducted on 17th July. At the same time, during the examination, a student had to face a humiliating situation. When a student from Kollam district of Kerala reached the examination center, she was asked to take off a part of the innerwear i.e. bra before writing the exam. After which the girl took off her bra and gave it to her mother. Then he was allowed to sit for the exam. After the arrival of this news, people have expressed their anger on social media.
At least 100 girls have complained in this matter. It is being said that during the security check, the metal hook in the bra caused a beep in the metal detection machine. After which the security personnel forced the girl to take off her bra.
Talking to news agency PTI, “The 17-year-old girl’s father alleged that his daughter is yet to come out of that traumatic experience. She had to sit for more than three hours long examination without a bra. The girl student’s first time Appeared in NEET exam.
Let me tell you, the girl’s father has lodged a complaint with the police and she also wants to go to his daughter’s Human Rights Commission.
Talking to a TV channel, the father said, “My daughter was dressed as per the dress code mentioned in the NEET bulletin. While there was nothing written about innerwear in the dress code guidelines.”
Talking to news agency ANI, “Allegedly, the parents confirmed that their daughter was forced to appear for the exam in front of other boys and male invigilators, making her quite uncomfortable. Her parents alleged that she was harassed mentally and physically.”
Father said, “My daughter is preparing for NEET exam from 8th standard. We were confident that she will score well in the exam, but due to this issue she was unable to concentrate and could not write the exam properly, ”
The State Women’s Commission has also registered a case taking suo motu cognizance of the incident. It is being told that complaints are increasing regarding the incident. Reacting to the incident, Kerala Higher Education Minister R Bindu said that the examination was not conducted by a government agency and what happened indicates a serious lapse on the part of the organisers.
“Such behavior of the organizers towards women and girl candidates without considering their human rights is unacceptable. We express our dismay about the Center and the National Testing Agency (NTA),” the minister said.
After the incident on Monday, various parties took out a protest march against the college in connection with the incident, police said. A senior district police officer said that a team of women officers has gone to record the statement of the girl and based on her advice, appropriate action will be taken including registering a case.
The official also said that they are looking for the private agency that was given the responsibility to conduct the tests.
Meanwhile, the Kerala State Human Rights Commission on Monday ordered an inquiry into the incident. The commission directed the Kollam rural SP to file the report within 15 days.
In 2017, a 17-year-old girl student was forced to remove her bra in Kannur, northern Kerala, as part of stringent measures to prevent fraud and irregularities in a national medical entrance exam, allegedly by authorities.
The student had told Hindustan Times that she was wearing a bra with a steel buckle, from which a metal detector was installed outside the examination centre. With this, the underwear was asked to be removed.
