This year, the pass rate for the Karnataka SSLC examinations 2023 decreased from 85.13 to 83.89 percent. On Monday morning, the results were released.
In 2021-22, the difficulty level of the examination questions was increased to 20% from 10%. The Karnataka State Education and Examination Board attributed the decline in the pass rate to the increased difficulty of the examinations. The Board inferred, however, that the performance of pupils in 2023 has increased by 12% compared to 2019-2020, when the pass rate was 71.80%.
Four students, Bhoomika Pai, New Mecaulay English High School, Bengaluru; Yashas Gowda, Sree BGS school, Chikkaballapura; Anupama Shrishail H, Sri Kumareshwar English Medium High School, Belagavi; and Bhimangowda Patil, Oxford English Medium High School, Vijayapura, earned perfect scores in every subject.

Females performed better than boys with 87.87% versus 89.98%. 87% of rural students passed the exam, compared to 82% of their metropolitan counterparts.
Chitradurga performed the highest with 96.8 percent, followed by Mandya with 96.7 percent and Hassan with 96.6 percent.
Bengaluru North’s success rate was 81%, while Bengaluru South’s was 79%.
