Austin Symphony July 4th Concert: AUSTIN (KXAN) – Tuesday, the City of Austin outlined parking and transportation options for those attending the H-E-B Austin Symphony July 4th Concert & Fireworks.

On July 4, the city announced that VIP festivities will begin at 5 p.m. and the free event will commence at 8 p.m. at Auditorium Shores and the Long Centre. Concert begins at 8:30 p.m., followed by “mile-high” pyrotechnics display.

Parking Directions

The city advised people to park in the downtown area north of Lady Bird Lake to prevent the congestion on South Lamar Boulevard, Barton Springs Road, and Riverside Drive (all located south of the park).

For safety purposes, the Bouldin Creek Neighbourhood will implement parking restrictions. According to the city, parking in restricted areas (on green spaces and parkland, along rights of way and medians, or obstructing private drives and lots) or in “Not Permitted” zones may result in fines, tickets, and/or towing at your expense.

There will be parking available in the following locations:

  • Alternatives for Public Parking North of the Lady Bird Lake Convention Centre Garages
  • State Garages L and N River South Garage at Riverside and South
  • Municipal Garage

ADA The Palmer Event Centre Garage and One Texas Centre will issue parking permits on a first-come, first-served basis. The entrance is accessible via Barton Springs Road from the south.

Austin Symphony July 4th Concert: Transportation

The city stated that the Hike-and-Bike Trail can be used to reach the park. Remember to carry a torch and that motorised vehicles are not permitted on the trail.

Additionally, you can use the City of Austin’s Bike Map to determine your direct route to the concert venue.

The city suggests using the CapMetro travel planner when taking public transport. Thursday, CapMetro announced it will provide Sunday-level bus service and suspend fares after 5 p.m. on July 4.

Shared Mobility / Dockless Devices – Shared Mobility and Dockless Devices will be able to be dropped off at the southwest corner of Riverside Drive and South First Street.

Road Closures

The city announced that road closures will begin at 10 a.m. on July 4th.By midnight, all streets will be reopened. The city has a map with information about road closures and parking options.

At 10 a.m., the city will close Riverside Drive between Lee Barton Drive and South First Street.

Due to high pedestrian traffic, the city warns the following roads may close earlier for safety reasons:

Lake Closures

On July 4, between 8 p.m. and 12 a.m., the section of Lady Bird Lake between the railroad trestle bridge and the South First Street bridge will be closed for safety reasons.

Be Prepared

The city requests that you adhere to the following rules and recommendations in order to attend the concert:

You will be outdoors, so wear protective footwear, clothing, and headwear.

  • Bring blankets, water for hydration, and insect repellent.
  • Pack a torch if you are hiking or biking along the Hike & Bike Trail. Personal umbrellas are permitted.
  • Allowable are folding chairs with affixed canopies
  • On-site food and drink vendors will be available.
  • Clean up following yourself
  • Make a plan and let others know where you will be.
  • Charge your phone to capacity
  • Observe your surroundings.

Austin Symphony July 4th Concert: Park Regulations and Municipal Laws

  • No glass or polystyrene allowed.
  • No alcohol permitted on premises
  • Swimming is prohibited in Lady Bird Lake
  • Class C Misdemeanour: smoking and vaporizers are prohibited in all City of Austin parks.
  • Vending in a park without a permit carries a minimum sanction of $200 and is a Class C misdemeanour.

Restricted objects

  • FAA regulations forbid the use of drones at the event.
  • No personal pyrotechnics, including sparklers, are permitted on site. No up-style or pop-up canopies/tents are allowed.
  • Grills and heating are prohibited at the event location.
  • Please leave your pets at home, as the city has informed us that the pyrotechnics during the performance are extremely distressing for them. If you have lost your companion, you should contact the Austin Animal Centre.

Notification from the Austin Police Department

During the Independence Day holiday, Austin Police stated that officers will enforce a DWI Enforcement Initiative and an Extended No Refusal Period.

APD reported that DWI Enforcement began on June 23 and will continue nightly until July 9. Extended No Refusal Period began on June 29 and ended on July 9.

Message from the Fire Department of Austin

Austin Fire reminded everyone of the burn moratorium and the prohibition on possessing, using, or selling fireworks within the city limits. The AFD requested that you dial 3-1-1, not 9-1-1, to report illegal pyrotechnics.

Austin-Travis County EMS stated it would provide multiple medical resources on-site at the concert, but warned attendees to prepare for the weather.

Here are some symptoms of Heat Exhaustion:

  • profuse perspiration
  • Dizziness or Weakness
  • Pale and moist epidermis
  • Rapid, feeble pulse
  • sickness or vomiting

If you or someone with you is experiencing heat exhaustion symptoms:

  • Place them in a colder area.
  • Relax and loosen your attire
  • Apply wet, cool compresses or cloths to as much of the body as feasible.
  • Sip water

If you have vomited and it persists, seek immediate medical attention. According to ATC-EMS, heat stroke is a medical emergency that, if left untreated, can result in permanent brain damage or mortality.

These are signs of heat stroke:

  • Hot, red, dry, or moist epidermis
  • Disorientation, lethargy, or loss of consciousness
  • Rapid and robust heartbeat
  • High body temperature (above 103 degrees Fahrenheit, or warm epidermis)

If you or someone you’re with exhibits symptoms of heat stroke, move them, chill them, and call 911 immediately.

Transfer the individual to a colder environment.

  • Reduce the individual’s body temperature by using cool cloths or a frigid bath.
  • DO NOT administer fluids by ingestion
  • The city recommends downloading the what3words app on your mobile device so that first responders can locate you more quickly.
