Former MLS Player’s Daughter Olivia Knighton Involved in Boating Accident: The family of a former professional football player confirmed that she drowned in South Carolina. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources reports that eleven-year-old Olivia Knighton of Massachusetts was one of nine people carried overboard when their 23-foot yacht was struck by a large wake from another boat on the Intracoastal Waterway on Wednesday.

There were twelve passengers on board, and fortunate no one else was injured. The DNR reports that the propeller was thrown overboard and struck Knighton. According to Horry County Fire Rescue, she was pronounced deceased at a local hospital shortly after the occurrence.

A former custodian for the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer tweeted early Thursday afternoon, “There are no words to express the depth of our profound grief and sorrow at this moment.”

According to Nexstar’s WWLP, since beginning his professional career in 2007, Brad Knighton has spent the majority of his time with the Revolution. His services were utilised by both the Philadelphia Union and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Knighton became the head coach of the New England Revolution Academy after his January retirement from the Major League Soccer.
