Late night firing at Wasseypur rocks Dhanbad police, no casualties

Unidentified bike-borne assailant fired seven rounds of bullets on the car of Wasseypur resident Gudia Khan who was returning with family members near Bhuli OP under Bank More police station on Thursday late evening.

Dhanbad, July 22: Late evening firing in the minority community-dominated Wasseypur area of Dhanbad has rocked the district police again.

Unidentified bike-borne assailant fired seven rounds of bullets on the car of Wasseypur resident Gudia Khan who was returning with family members near Bhuli OP under Bank More police station on Thursday late evening.

Gudia Khan is the daughter of home guard constable Aisha Khatoon who has a long dispute with notorious Fahim Khan, a criminal of Wasseypur who is currently lodged in the Hazaribagh Central Jail.

Police officials said that the incident occurred around between 9.45 to 9.50 pm. Gudia Khan and her husband and younger brother were returning after dropping her maternal uncle at Jharkhand More.

As her car stopped near Bhuli OP for repairing the AC snag, bike-borne assailants started indiscriminate firing on her car from the back and after overtaking the vehicle. Gudia Khan’s husband Amit Kumar tried to chase the bike but all of sudden a car stopped him. As the Bhuli police heard the firing, they also rushed to the spot.

On getting information, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Arvind Kumar Sinha, Bank More police station officer-in-charge PK Singh and Bhuli OP in-charge Nandu Pal reached the spot and began an investigation.

The police found four bullet marks on the car and recovered three empty cartridges from the spot. Gudia Khan filed an FIR in this regard at the Bhuli OP. She alleged that Shahzad Khan, the son of Fahim Khan was sitting in the car which stopped her vehicle from chasing the assailants.

She charged in her complaint that she has a market near Ara More of Wasseypur. Shahzad Khan and Iqbal Khan, sons of Fahim Khan, and tenants Sonu and Jabbar want to capture it. At first, they offered a sale and when she rejected the proposal, they are trying to kill her.

Bhuli OP officer-in-charge Nandu Pal said that investigation is on to identify assailants involved in the firing.
