According to the FHP, an Orange County deputy cruiser was positioned in the inner northbound lane of SR-417 with its emergency lights on to assist construction workers in clearing the road of debris. A 2021 Chevrolet Silverado driver collides with the deputy’s cruiser within the street.
The constable was injured, but the driver, a 47-year-old man from Orlando, escaped uninjured. Minutes later, another constable arrived at the scene and blocked the inner lane by parking there with his emergency lights on, according to troopers.
As the officer approached the scene on foot, a 2019 Dodge Caravan apparently collided with the right rear of the second deputy’s car. The impact caused the deputy’s cruiser and the Caravan to spin around, with the Caravan’s front end colliding with the cruiser’s front end.
The constable was unharmed, according to troopers, while the 19-year-old Winter Park driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both crashes sparked investigations.
