Following a surge of videos showcasing unusual food combinations such as avocado paan, ice cream Maggi, and many others, the most recent unorthodox food pairing is the popcorn-infused omelette. A vendor in Delhi charges Rs 100 for an omelette made with popcorn and served with portions of bread.

In a video that has gone viral, a vendor prepares a novel dish by including popcorn. Initially, he heats a plate and cracks eggs into it. He then adds finely sliced onions, green chilies, a pinch of turmeric, and a custom spice blend. The vendor explains with pride that this unique spice mixture, known as “zaika,” is his own creation. He had prepared a mixture of 15–16 seasonings to enhance the flavor of the dish.

After the initial preparation, he whisks together these ingredients. As with a traditional omelette, he then evenly distributes this mixture within the pan. Nevertheless, here’s the twist!

The vendor then liberally sprinkles popcorn over the omelette as it heats in the pan. The popcorn is topped with a layer of grated cheese and fresh coriander fronds.

He deftly rotates the omelette and drizzles half of its surface with the sauce. Alongside, additional popcorn is distributed, and then the mixture is folded into a semicircular shape. The vendor completes this distinctive popcorn omelette recipe by serving it with toast made on the same pan. However, this viral video failed to capture the interest of internet users.

This is not the first time people have been dissatisfied with this basic and nutritious egg delight. The ubiquitously popular breakfast staple omelette has undergone numerous experiments and modifications over time.

In another viral video, a Gujarat bullock vendor was seen preparing a dish called mango omelette. In the video, the vendor can be seen adding oil to the cooking surface, cracking two eggs, adding egg yolks, chilies, and seasonings, and then adding mango juice to the fried eggs.
